How the rework engine works

1. Every Premier League match from 2009/10 onwards is loaded from football-data.co.uk results data.
2. Every fixture involving Manchester City is expunged, as if the club never played that season.
3. Each table is recalculated for the remaining clubs using points, then goal difference, then goals scored.
4. Original and reworked finishing positions are compared for every club, in every season.

How the figures are estimated

Merit payments, title value, European participation revenue, and the cost of relegation net of parachute payments are all placeholder estimates held in one configuration file, per season. They are not official figures and should not be treated as accurate. Statutory late payment interest is 8% above the Bank of England base rate, simplified here to a flat annual rate of 12.75%, applied as simple interest from the end of each season to today.

Credit notes

Some clubs finish lower once City are removed, and a few drop into the reworked bottom three. Those clubs receive a credit note instead of a demand, on the basis that they allegedly benefited.

Badges and crests

Club colours only are used. No official badges, crests, or logos appear anywhere on this site.
